Megan Adams

Megan Adams is a powerhouse pop / rock vocalist with influences from Lady Gaga to Kesha, Demi Lovato to the Civil Wars, Stevie Nix to Etta James. There is really very little she can’t pull off. Her sound is influenced by so many different genres including pop, rock, country, blues, jazz, and more. Megan’s voice will pierce your soul. In one moment, she will enter a phrase with the gentleness of a dove and the next, the power and majesty of an eagle. Come to her next show. You’ll see.

What is your favorite color?

Green, turquoise

What is your favorite food?

Steak or chips and salsa.

Do you have any pets?

Yes. Too many. We are a dog family.

What is your favorite genre of music?

I love jazz, folk, classic rock, and of course pop is always fun to listen to.

When and how did your interest in music begin?

I have been singing for as long as I remember. I still say that being on stage gets my blood pumping like nothing else can! Music also centers me on a day to day basis. It has always just played a significant role in my life.

Who is your favorite music artist? Why?

Oh wow! That is such a hard question. I love Billie Holiday, The Beatles, Lady Gaga, Janis Joplin, Patsy Cline and as of late Ed Sheeran, Demi Lovato and Hayley Williams.

If you could perform on stage with anyone, who would it be? Why?

Lady Gaga.

How would you describe yourself as an artist?

I have always been filed away pretty neatly as a country artist. Mostly because of my location and the ease of booking for a country demographic…but currently I am seeking to define my unique identity. There is definitely a significant country influence, but I want to draw from the music I listen to and enjoy on a day to day basis (pop, rock, jazz) to become a more soulful and powerful singer. So, right now….I am a sponge.

Who do you most admire? Why

I look up to and seek to emulate those who speak up for those who are not able to advocate for themselves. I look up to those who challenge the status quo. Brene Brown & Desmond Tutu have had a huge influence on who I am as a human, social worker, and artist.

What are some of your interests/hobbies other than music?

Being a Mom to 3 precious children (Lennon, Radly and Maya) I love being plugged into our community and helping support organizations that give back. I sit on the Board of Directors for United Way of Wise County, am a member of Decatur Junior Woman’s Club and am active in the PTO.

What is something interesting about you?

I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work and am currently working on certifications as an Employee Assistance Provider and in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Always seeking to learn more and be better.

What qualities do you have that you believe are unique?

I am incredibly open minded and adaptable. I like to think I have an ability to recognize people’s needs and speak to them in a way that makes them feel heard.  I think that everyone deserves to have a voice. However…I have a set of core values that drive my actions and interactions on a day to day basis.

Have you ever received any prominent award or recognition for anything you've done? (music, art, academics, athletics, etc.)

I was recently named Decatur Junior Woman’s Club Woman of the Year for my work in the organization and in the community.

Is there anything you would like everyone to know about you?

I am so thankful to make music a priority again and to share my love of music with my babies. As I said before…music centers me and speaks to me. I think it can create a forum for communication that transcends other forms of language.
